Lightsource bp using Array Technologies trackers for 1.4-GW global solar portfolio

Lightsource bp has signed a purchase agreement with Array Technologies, which will supply Lightsource bp’s newly developed solar portfolio with 1.4 GW worldwide with single-axis DuraTrack HZ v3 solar trackers equipped with a system-optimizing SmarTrack technology.

Once built and connected, this newly added solar capacity will generate enough combined renewable power to power over 266,000 homes.

Lightsource bp, a solar development and management company, expects the agreement to supply and optimize this portfolio of solar power generation projects in growing energy markets worldwide including the US, Australia and Spain.

“As we continue to expand and develop our 16 GW development pipeline, we can leverage the efficiency of our scale by executing global sourcing agreements with world class suppliers like Array Technologies. This approach further optimizes our projects and leads to electricity at competitive prices for our customers. Our agreement with Array Technologies demonstrates the quality of the partnerships Lightsource bp invests in, ”said Nick Boyle, Group CEO of Lightsource bp.

DuraTrack HZ v3 is a utility-scale solar tracker designed to reduce lifetime costs for asset owners and reduce lifetime O&M costs. It uses SmarTrack, a machine learning software platform designed to increase utility generation and revenue for utility-scale solar energy by quickly and securely optimizing backtracking and diffuse lighting strategies.

This agreement builds on an earlier agreement between Lightsource bp and Array Technologies, signed in December 2019, that includes a $ 1.5 million agreement for 1.5 GW projects in the United States.

“Array’s continued collaboration with Lightsource bp has provided us with insights into the efficiency of preparation and planning,” said Jim Fusaro, CEO of Array Technologies. “Your management team takes a long-term view of solar and invests heavily in proven technology to offer their customers low energy costs over the life of a solar project. This customer-centric approach, with an emphasis on lowering long-term operating costs, is exactly how we deal with our customers. “
