Trina Solar Makes Monocrystal Silican Wafer Purchase from Zhonghuan

Changzhou Trina Solar Energy Co. Ltd., a provider of complete photovoltaic (PV) and smart energy solutions, and Tianjin Zhonghuan Semiconductor Co. Ltd. have signed a framework agreement.

Under the agreement, Trina Solar intends to purchase 210mm single crystal silicon wafers from Tianjin Huanou International Silicon Material Co. Ltd., a subsidiary of Zhonghuan. During the proposed sourcing period between January 2021 and December 2021, the total estimated order value is approximately $ 1 million (including tax) with a minimum of 1.2 billion units.

Gao Jifan, chairman of Trina Solar, said that the procurement of more than 1.2 billion units of 210mm single crystal silicon wafers is a strong guarantee for the implementation of the capacity planning of Trina Solar’s 210mm PV cells and modules and for the provision of Vertex’s offerings, we will represent ultra-high-performance modules that will soon meet more customer requirements for ultra-high-performance modules.

“Zhonghuan strives for long-term steady development in order to maintain competitiveness in the segment markets and achieve long-term success,” says Shen Haoping, general manager of Zhonghuan. “The company maintains a professional spirit of serving customers and focusing on core business, with great emphasis on quality control. We look forward to synergetic development with upstream and downstream companies in the PV industry chain creating breakthroughs in areas such as manufacturing methods and technological innovation. “

The module design has always focused on improving system efficiency and reducing electricity costs per kWh. Collaborative innovations between companies are required to connect core areas such as R&D, manufacturing and application, so that the industrialization and marketing of modules can occur more quickly to generate profit and value for end customers.

Companies from all segments of the industrial chain are working towards a common goal – to promote the cost reduction of PV systems and electricity per kWh and to lower the feed-in tariff. Together with Zhonghuan, Trina Solar will further strengthen technical exchanges and cooperation, conduct appropriate technical research and product development, drive technological innovations in the PV industry, and expand the influence and application of advanced technologies to provide a wider space with added value to the industry .
