Tigo devices are certified with more than 200 inverters from 17 different companies
Tigo Energy, Inc., the global leader in Flex-MLPE (Module Level Power Electronics), announced today that it has received UL PVRSS (Photovoltaic Rapid Shutdown System) certification for approximately 30 inverter models from 17 different companies. Tigo already had the largest network of certified inverters that customers could choose from, and this adds even more options to the rapidly growing list.
“This is by far the largest selection of certified inverters available anywhere for use with emergency shutdown devices,” said Sarah Ozga, product manager at Tigo. “Our customers want the freedom to choose the inverter and capacity they want and we can deliver it for them.”
The certified inverters range from 2.5 kW, single-phase for small residential complexes up to 100 kW, three-phase for large commercial systems. This also includes newly introduced hybrid inverters for private households, which are designed for easy integration into energy storage systems.
To obtain certification, each inverter family has been independently tested with the TS4 family of Tigo rapid shutdown devices in accordance with UL standards. The UL’s emergency shutdown test is the strictest test standard available that demonstrates the functionality, reliability and safety of emergency shutdown systems instead of the basic function.
“We have certified our fast shutdown solutions with virtually every major string inverter manufacturer,” added Ozga. “It’s an amazing achievement and I’m very proud of our team.”
The certified inverters include the following brands:
Chint Power Systems
Growatt New Energy
Yaskawa Solectria Solar
The UL PVRSS certification fulfills a necessary safety requirement for the PV emergency shutdown in the US National Electrical Code, whereby both the inverter and the emergency shutdown device must be tested as a “system”. Rooftop PV systems in the vast majority of the US now require fast shutdown devices. Similar requirements are accepted and discussed worldwide.
