NuGen Capital Breaks Ground on Rhode Island Rooftop Solar Project

NuGen Capital Management LLC, a company that owns, operates and develops renewable energy projects, has begun construction of a 6.76 MW rooftop DC solar system in Rhode Island.

The project, which uses more than 16,000 solar panels, will be installed by AUI Partners, a full-service renewable energy and commercial services company, in a 560,000 square meter warehouse in East Greenwich. Full commercial operation of the project is expected in early 2021.

Bristol, Barrington and the Barrington School District undertake to purchase the electricity generated from the system under a long-term electricity purchase agreement. The system should produce approx. 195,681,096 kWh over the term of the contract.

“We are excited to be working with such strong partners at both AUI Partners and IBEW Local Union 99 to build the largest rooftop solar project ever in Rhode Island,” said Aaron Rust, Director of Asset Management at NuGen.

NuGen’s rooftop installation supports the Accelerated Clean Energy Initiative in Rhode Island and Governor Gina Raimondo’s Executive Order 20-01, which outlines the governor’s goal to have 100% renewable energy in Rhode Island by 2030.
