Renewable energy advocate submits Solar Farm design to LEGO Ideas

Rob Davis, a renewable energy attorney and director of the Center for Pollinators in Energy at Fresh Energy, submitted a model that has the chance to become the first solar farm kit produced by LEGO.

LEGO Ideas allows users to submit ideas for Lego products that can be turned into potential sets that are commercially available. The original designer receives 1% of the license fee. Davis’ Solar Farm must receive at least 10,000 votes to be considered for a commercial set.

Davis used the CAD for LEGO tool to create the design and access all of the parts and colors that LEGO makes. His Solar Farm LEGO kit includes solar panels, pollinator-friendly ground covers, beehives, grazing sheep, an inverter control box and an engineer / site manager / pasture.
“I’m confident this has linked to budding engineers as well as current engineers and many others, just as it clicked with my family and children,” said Davis.
