Clearway Energy Group announced the completion of its first Illinois solar farm, expanding access to local and affordable renewable energy in the state. Clearway will power the Southland 3 MWDC solar farm outside of Kankakee and will complete eight more collaborative solar farms in the coming months.
Each of Clearway’s Illinois solar parks has approximately 350 residential subscriptions, and over 3,000 residential subscribers have subscribed to these first nine projects.
“We are excited to be able to activate our first community solar farm in Illinois in time for Earth Day and provide residents with more renewable energy options,” said Valerie Wooley, vice president of origination at Clearway. “While this is just the beginning, these early locations represent a commitment to local solar energy from residents, communities, businesses, universities and others and help customers save money when choosing renewable energy. We thank everyone who comes together to face the climate crisis and become a community that invests in local clean energy. “
